Adam,
You need to establish a list of reasons why you want/need a new clarinet. If
your parents can see that you have put a lot of thought into this, then they
might be more likely to fulfill your request. For instance, if you plan on
being a music major in college with clarinet as your primary instrument, you
will need to obtain a high quality wooden instrument. However, if you only
plan on being in marching band, then a plastic clarinet will do. I would
advise you to try out other brands such as Leblanc, Yamaha, and Selmer.
Tip-Ask for it for X-mas! Parents have a hard time refusing then.
