Ed,

Since I am not as familiar with the style and vintage of your
clarinets I would still suggest contacting Guy Chadash in NYC. If anyone
can find an acoustical solution or compromise to what I believe the probl=
em
to be - namely an out of tune C clarinet or possibly a clarinet designed
more to play only with a C clarinet mouthpiece - he would be the one. I
suppose it's possible that the acoustical design of the C clarinet of tha=
t
style and era wouldn't allow as easily for the solution that I originally=

proposed. =

Good Luck! It would be very interesting to see what Guy has to say.

>Greg,
Thankyou for your reply. All three instruments are Selmer Series9's. I
have messed about with barrels but nothing seems as effective as an
enlarged
mouthpiece bore [Francois Kloc's suggestion]. Unfortunately, such a
mouthpiece over-sharpens the altissimo of my Bb and A.

Depends on the make of clarinets your using. Are they all similar? I use =
my
own regular mouthpiece on my Bb, A and C (all R-13's) and simply had Guy
Chadash of New York make me a proper length and bored C barrel so that I
can switch back and forth between all three with no effort. The barrel th=
at
came with the C clarinet was the culprit in my situation. It's less likel=
y
that the mouthpiece is the problem in your case.
