Thirty years after I finally convinced my parents - my $125 purchase is
worth well over $1000.
I play in a community orchestra and a 1900 style territorial band. All
the clarinets we play are wooden - some of us seems to becoming so also
:)

Tell your folks you'll stick with the clarinet and it will stick with you
