Thanks for the input, been working on it.
There limited brands stocked in Ottawa.
Neverless a local store has let a few units out on trial.

I find a preference for tube over solid state for accoustic
recording of winds with a digital setup.
The Avalon 737 is the best I've tried yet for clarinet,
Four tubes, warm, transparent compared with others sampled.
Nice clean compressor/ EQ built in.
Trouble is it's one channel, and $3200CAN each.

dbx786, tube preamp is a good stereo unit under consideration.
tested a tc unit, goldchannel, lots of nice presets, thin sound.

Don't have access to many of the units you recomend,
Perhaps if I travel to Montreal, but Avalon is almost sold.

Any additional opinions on specifically Avalon vs/ others
you listed welcome.

Thank You
Dave Renaud
