I think that 'period instruments' is a very moveable characterisation.
For myself, sometimes I think I play them well, sometimes not.

Also, with regard to taking offence, I have sometimes on this list to
encounter criticisms not just of friends of mine, but of myself, it
seems:-)

Well, as I say, I haven't heard it.

Well, I'd say, try again. You might actually be able to hear something
worthwhile 'through' the unusual sound.

After all, how uncomfortable can the experience be, compared with
abdominal surgery?-)
