Dave asked : "I was wondering what people on the list use to scan music
into a format
readable by Fianle Allegro. Specifically, what type of
scanner/resolution, and what software to do the translating into a .MUS
or whatever type of file. "

This month's MacWorld reviews a new piece of software - Misitek's
Smartscore (at version 1.2).
It seems to be the best at optical recognition to date - a lot more
accurate than Midiscan.
Just like Midiscan the better the scanner and the higher the resolution
the more accurate the scan.
The software itself (Smartscore) does the translation into .MUS file.
It is $399 US.

The review in MacWorld showed a fragment of an original score and the
resultant file after Smartscore had scanned and presented it. It was much
more accurate than Midiscan or Nightingale.
