Hi everybody.
In the past years I met different teachers and clarinet players (I am an
amateur).
About the problem of how much one should blow when playing notes
in the upper register (particularly the highest ones) I listened to very
different opinions.
Someone said that one shoul blow harder, other ones that one should blow much
less than
in the lower register. All of them supported their ideas with "scientific"
motivations.
Since they are all good players, it is clear that both attitudes can give good
results (maybe
the sound is different).
Now, what I am asking is: is there a real scientific motivation which
justifies one solution
more than the other one (even if, of course, in order to have some particular
effect also
the "not justified" solution can be used)?

All the best

Franco Barbanera
