Subj: [kl] What does it sound like?

This may seem a silly question, but could somebody possibly describe the
difference in sound between the R-13, RC, Vintage, & Festival Buffet=B9s?

I realize that this is sort of like trying to describe the difference
between teal, aqua, cyan, and blue-green, but as a new student
clarinetist, it would be helpful to hear someone try to explain their
experience of the sonic difference between them. It would be nice to
even have someone else=B9s description of their experience of the clarinets=

as a place to begin my own exploration.

Obviously, they all sound like clarinets, but why does a player select
one over the other? You =B3like=B2 it better, but obviously that liking (fo=
r
many) has to have a basis in the sound of it (for the moment leaving out
issues of hardware, ease, cosmetics, etc...) I=B9ll also willingly admit
that every person=8Cs experience of sound is different and personal to
them, but it often helps to know what others experience to
compare/contrast to your own.

If any one would like to take a shot at this but doesn=B9t want to risk the=

slings and arrows of the list, PLEASE email me privately.

Hoping this doesn@-----.

Best to everyone! The list is fascinating!
