While we're on the topic of the long B and bells...

I noticed that if I run my finger over the connection between the lower
joint and bell (on the inside) there is a substantial step. The bore of
the bell is not flush with the lower joint; it's a little smaller. I
can only guess that this is not the way it's supposed to be, instead
smooth like the rest of the joints. Is this causing problems or is it
normal? My teacher does a lot with mouthpieces, ligatures, and barrels
but doesn't mess with bells. From what I've read they can make a
substantial difference! If it needs to be turned I think I know a
repairman who could do it.

Thanks for you help
