I went to see the Piercy clarinet concert in NYC the other night. Thomas
Piercy playing a beautiful rosewood Rossi horn, both Bb and A and English
bore. Lots of composers and a few clarinetists in the audience. Kalman
Opperman there and smiling broadly. Beautiful tone with nice vibrato,
effortless technical playing from Mr. Piercy. He could float all those high
notes in the Siegmesiter like they were little clouds or balloons! Held a
pianissimo high G at the end for almost a minute - no circular breathing
either. Some very cool clarinet duo work in the Siegmiester trio; highly
recommend it.
