Last Sunday I heard a wonderful performance of Frank Ticheli's "Blue Shades"
by the Pomona College Cocert Band and had to catch myself to keep from
applauding after the clarinet solo. It's a blues/jazz lick and applause
right after the solo sure seemed appropriate -- at least for that work.

p.s. I'll let you know if they applaud Craig Countryman's clarinet solo in
Blue Shades tonight at Caltech.
