I'm glad you found the source of the problem. I'd advise caution if you were
thinking of putting all cork pads in the whole upper joint, rather than just
replacing the offending trill key pads. Somewhere in Arthur Benade's archive

there's a mention of cork pads. He says that if the first two resonance peaks
aren't perfectly aligned (which is always the case), soft fuzzy pads can have a
beneficial effect, widening the peaks so that they overlap more (damping reduces
the Q) and you get a better tone because of more cooperation between the two
peaks. Conversely, changing to cork pads with less damping can ruin a clarinet's
sound if the resonances aren't pretty well aligned.
