Browser based; appropriate plugins for sound & movies.
The portal will be a secure SSL server on my end; after authorisation
(username/password), you would be transferred to the "for money" Groves
site.
In theory, anyway. If I get another 50 names or so to show interest I'll
start the ball rolling in December. That gives me and them December thru
September to get the kinks worked out.
Now for a little "Sponsor's" plug: the only reason I can even _think_ of
doing this is partly due to companies and people sponsoring Sneezy.Org.
There's no way that I could afford to part with $1200 of my own cash on a
venture like this - the monetary return on the investment is way too small.
The "satisfaction" return is immense - in our own way we're contributing to
"Open Source".
I'd also like to thank again everyone who donated money last year so I could
buy a new "Sneezy" - it's worked out well, I think! The original Sneezy (the
Alpha DecStation 3000/600 that had the load as sneezy.mika.com) will have a
new home shortly, too. It'll be a new member of the music department at Ohio
State, under the direction of Jim Pyne. Perhaps it'll start life again as a
Web server dedicated to musical acoustics - Jim hasn't decided yet.
Cheers,
Mark C.
