Well, there is part of an answer lurking there, or one I've heard elsewhere,
namely that sometimes a particular reed out of the package is just going to
be a dog, no matter whose name is on it. I'm reluctant to break this one
until I've given it a fair chance and me a fair chance to get used to it.
