Subj: [kl] pitch bending and Gershwin Blue cadenza

i am one of the unlucky(?) clarineters who can bend pitch only a 1/2 step
down with embouchure only. And i envy the folks who can smear and
stretch 4ths and 5ths, and easily glissando the opening of Rhapsody in
Blue.
I've played and gotten by with finger slide, but wish i could do the
smoother version. Now i I have a student preparing this for next term.

What to change to get past this limit?
