Dear Ed,
I have no idea "what gives" - maybe something to do with what Walter Grabner
(among others) has been on about regarding hand-finished mouthpieces.
I bought my B45dot on the reccommendation of a close friend whose playing &
tone I admire. Initially I also found it a bit stuffy but have since got
used to it and got around the problem by choosing reeds more carefully.
Meanwhile, the friend in question has abandoned his. Comparing our two mpces
on my own clarinet, I find that I much prefer my own. I think I'll save up
for a hand-finished model!
