Yep, Yip. The higher quality the ensemble (i.e.; the better the players)
the lesser the degree of the problem you describe, and the greater a joy
it can be to rehearse and perform. Mind you, the extent of that joy is con-
tingent upon a number of factors beyond the expertise and musicality of the
players. To put it mildly, I'd rather play in a mediocre ensemble with a
group of really nice people than a top-notch orchestra with a group of
self-absorbed or mean-spirited sycophants.
