According to the blurb from Vandoren, their M13 mouthopiece is designed for
"American pitch" (A440). It is relatively closed with a tip opening of 1.005
mm and is described as having a "Long" (by French standards) lay which I
guess means about 21 mm. (German lays are c. 22 -28 mm). These
characteristics sugest that it was designed mainly for chamber music. I think
Vandoren mouthpieces are good but overpriced. (I have a large-chamber B45
("B45dot") which I like and which is a sort general-purpose mouthpiece. I
you don't like your M13, sell it! BTW, Vandoren has web pages which are
full of useful/interesting information at vandoren.com/
