In a box of misc. music supplies, I found a clarinet mouthpiece. It is
labeled "Vandoren-Paris, M13" in gold on the back. On the left side
(looking at the back) there is either the number "88" or two infinity
symbols, on end, next to each other. There are three ligature lines, one
at the top, two at the bottom. On either side of the face, near the cork,
is stamped into the mpc the letter "M" -- I think. (Haven't got my glasses
on.) The mpc looks virtually new. No teeth, reed, or ligature marks.
Actually, the only sign of use is the cork has been greased.

I'm curious, since I don't recall ever playing a Vandoren mpc. (I still
have the original that came with the Selmer-Paris 9* clarinets (in 1961)
and my second Pete Fountain crystal, the first having gone to that great
mpc resting place in the sky when I tried to get my overcoat off in the
orchestra pit, causing the A clarinet to go rolling onto the floor, and the
music stand's base proving to be harder than the mpc.)

Suggestions? Shall I just put it back in the box? <g>

Jim
