Let me add just a word or two on this thread.

It takes money (capital) to start a business and keep it running. People put
(invest) money into a business in order to get a return on that money, just
like you and I expect interest from a savings account, or expect our
pension/IRA/401K to grow.

If there were no profit, investors would (and do) take their money and put it
somewhere else (in the same way we would move fmoney from a non-performing
IRA fund).

Remember, as well, that there are times that business LOOSE money, like the
months after Christmas for a large retail store. But, that business still
needs to pay taxes, utility bills, salaries, health insurance premiums, etc.

All non-communist societies operate on this principle. If you don't like it
try living in North Korea.
