What one might more usefully attack here is 'dichotomisation' -- for
example, the tendency to think we have to be able to answer the
question, "What's more important: profit or quality?"

I don't know the work of Mr. Gompers well enough to say whether he
contributed to the prevalence of 'dichotomitis' in our world or not.

But dichotomitis is a quite general problem. There are few things more
important in our world than being able to recognise it.

Even on this list, it has been the misunderstanding lying behind several
disagreements occurring in 'more important', 'on-topic' threads.
