One thing to watch out for is that electrical tape is thinner than most
commercial mouthpiece patches, and you'll get more sound via bone conduction.
For example, when I was comparing my current sax mouthpiece with a Bay patch to
a range of new ones with electrical tape, I picked out one that seemed to have a
louder, brighter sound, and was disappointed when it lost that edge when I put a
Bay patch on it. Maybe tape-recording your mouthpiece trials would avoid that
problem.
