Rovner is often cited as the best ligature to use
in these situations, but it is actually questionable
in my opinion. Depending on the diameter of the mouth-
piece, the screw of the Rovner ligature can actually
come into contact with the mouthpiece when fully
tightened, digging a small groove into the back
of the mouthpiece. It doensn't seem like it
should be possible, but it is, so be careful
even when using the Rovner. You might consider
placing a small piece of black tape on the back
of the mouthpiece, directly in the plane where
the screw could potentially make contact.
