Until such time as at least one company decides to produce a plastic
clarinet with the same degree of care as their wooden ones, this point
is moot. When one wants a professional clarinet today, one will look at
wooden clarinets. (I'd still take a good plastic student clarinet over a
junker wooden one from Grandpa Louie's attic anyday.)
