De Peyer was born on 11 April 1926. So he is now 73
He now plays as and when he feels like it, I guess.
He has "come home" and has a flat near Tower Bridge on the Thames,
a prestigious location. He has rejoined the Incorporated Society of
Musicians (ISM)
On Sunday at the RCM in London at the "Clarinet Day" he participated in the
evening concert
and played the Bliss Clarinet Quintet with very great aplomb,
and then, from memory, the Tartini/Jacob Concertino
I am not acquainted with him and have never "met" him, so to speak,
except to give him help with the geography of the RCM a few days ago.

On 14 July 1999 he gave a recital at the Wigmore Hall.
The programme included Hurlstone Four Characteristic Pieces,
Bax Sonata, Horovitz Sonatina, Lutoslawski Dance Preludes,
Martinu Sonatina, Poulenc Sonata and two encores.
He was on good form and clearly enjoying this marathon affair.

His sense of rhythm and rhetoric is perfect.
His great talent is to play joined-up music.
It flows, it has momentum. He is an instinctive interpreter.
Some clarinettists are overflowing with ideas as to how works should be
played
but as he has himself observed, he does not have ideas, he has convictions.
He has played clarinets by Boosey (1010s), Peter Eaton and now Luis Rossi
His tone is not admired universally, I have to acknowledge.
