A note on my previous post.

I am not unaware of the irony of praising Guy Legere's synthetic reeds and at
the same time publishing a book on making reeds by hand.

I simply believe that complete artistry involves looking at all
possibilities. I played on Legere reeds exclusively for a year. I finally
came upon several passages that I could not play to my satisfaction, and used
cane reeds for these. I'm happy to have BOTH tools in my tool kit!

What I want to do, is bring to bear the best combination I can, for the music
I am playing. That might be a Legere reed, a Grand Concert 3 1/2 thick blank,
or a hand made reed.

The important thing is to do the best you can on each specific piece of music.
