OK....... Flamers get ready!

I believe that most stock production mouthpieces are garbage.

Not that you can't get a good one from time to time. I have a friend who
picked an EXCELLENT Vandoren 5RV Lyre off the shelf. I'd buy that mouthpiece
any day she wants to sell it.

BUT...if you take measuring tools to ten stock mouthpiece of the same brand
and model, you are likely to get ten wildly differing sets of measurements.
(Please....I am not talking about the Hite, Ridenour, or Fobes student
mouthpieces here.) You will also see some facings that are totally inaccurate
and cannot possibly produce a good tone and good response. Garbage! Saddling
s beginner with this kind of product is the cause of much agony on everyone's
part.

This is why we must have people like Ridenour, Fobes, Hawkins, Hite, Pyne,
Greg Smith, Garrett .............(.and Grabner) ...... to make our
mouthpieces for us.

Quality control is still at the individual mouthpiece level.
