Some student clarinets such as the old Pan Americans (manufactured by Conn)
were made with very large holes for the right hand holes. The goal was to
make it easier for a student to get a big full sound in the low register
notes. However, it is very difficult for some students and even some adults
to cover such holes.

I happen to have a Leblanc Vito Resotone 3 in my small collection. The
lowest finger hole on it has a diameter of 9.34 millimeters (0.3677 inches).
The same hole on my pro grade Leblanc Symphonie II measures 9.35 millimeters
(0.3681 inches).
