Dear friends:

(Before start writing, sorry for my poor English! I hope you can understand
this text...)

Some time ago I told you that I was having serious problems in my hands
(more in R.H.) playing my clarinet. The doctor and I thought that maybe I
had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so I did a nerve conduction test, and the result
was absolutely normal in both hands.

However, I reread an old article written by Earl Thomas in "The Clarinet"
May/June 1993 ("Anatomical Essentials in Clarinet Hand Position"). When I
read it in 1993 and now again, I felt that the described case (that subject
in the late 20s) was very very similar to mine. Like him, I probably have
"focal dystonia" (also called "writer's cramp) in my right hand, and I will
do more studies with doctors in order to have an exact diagnose.

I would like to know, if someone knows:
1) About the treatment of focal dystonias with botulinum toxin injections.
2) About other alternative treatments (oral medications, etc...).
3) Finally, if there was a second part, or a continuation of that very
interesting article by Earl Thomas.

Many thanks in advance. With kind regards,

Gabriel Blasberg
