If you know your keys, it's easy. If a song in the hymal is written in
Concert C Major you would need to transpose it to Concert D Major, (2 sharps
in the key signature) and go up one letter name for each note.
Example in Concert C if the notes are written, C F A B, you would play D, A,
B, C#, etc.
More Examples: Concert key is E Major, you would play in F# Major, a full
step up.
Example in E Major: E, G#, D#, F#, you would play F#, A#, E# (F natural), G#.
It is easier to do than it sounds.
