The remarks on this subject by David Blumberg made me wonder what instrument
he is playing?

One of my pupils, a nine year old girl, not very gifted, is using this
technique, all by herself, I never told her about the possibility to do
this! Sometimes she brings sheet music for mandolin to the lesson, then I
ask her "to play it like a mandolin", and she is able to do so. Beautifully.
