No, it CAN be learned. I did it. And it can be practiced at any time, any

place, with or without your instrument. You can practice
"ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka" while reading the
newspaper, walking down the street, watching TV -- almost anywhere.

To which i add my hearty concurrence. I'm still not really *good* at it,
but i played clarinet for twenty years without being able to double-tongue,
and then was inspired by an article a colleague left on my music stand at a
band rehearsal. I tried it again--had to work on it for a while to get
anywhere, but eventually it came around. Actually, it's inspired me to
work harder on my single-tonguing as well. I still have a ways to go to
get to a stead 144, though.
