In college, when I was constantly practicing for my senior recital, I
had a problem with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. My clarinet professor
recommended a neck strap to me for added support. It really helped. I
was a bit nervous using it on stage for a performance at first. Then I
realized it was either that or ruin my hands forever! I chose the neck
strap and my recital went fine.

Even now that I'm teaching band, when I play a lot my right hand begins
going numb. That neck strap really helps though!
