That sounds like a logical explanation. In this orchestra, all the
musicians get the same pay. It's run by some string players who were sick
of getting paid less than the wind players so everyone gets the same, no
matter how many instruments they have to bring. Needless to say, we
transposed the A clar. part. We would have gladly packed out the A for
extra pay though.
