You can actually see Morales using a neckstrap in TV broadcasts of the
Metropolitan opera. The one I remember in particular was the "La Forza del
Destino" a couple of years ago or so.

There is at least one author of clarinet method books who advocates neck
straps for players. That is Robert Lowrey.

The neck strap can be beneficial in that not only does it support some of
the weight but the instrument feels more stable. Then the player can not
only establish a better hand position but also a better embouchure since
he/she won't be trying to keep it from wobbling.
