Subj: [kl] Buffet adjustable thumbrests
Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 03:04:57 -0500

I just got a Buffet adjustable thumbrest ($80). It came without
screws to attach it with. I called the mail-order place I got it
from, and they said it doesn't come with screws. I can't simply
use the screws from my existing R13 because there are only two
and the new thumbrest has three holes.

- What can Buffet be thinking to charge that much for a thumbrest
and not provide screws for it?

- Can anyone tell me what kind of screws I should use to attach it
and where I can get them?

On a side note, anyone who enjoys the postings of Shadowcat and cohorts
might enjoy a couple of books by Diane Duane: "The Book of Night with
Moon" and "To Visit the Queen." They are fantasy novels set in a
version of our world where some members of many species, including cats
and humans, are also wizards who work behind the scenes to keep our world
running.

Subject: Re: [donax-m] Lip and cheek gymnasium

Joseph Allard describes the aftermath of his first clarinet lesson with
Daniel Bonade. Bonade had shown Allard a new way to hold the corners of his
mouth. (Allard described this as having the corners of the lower lip touch
the bottom molars. The lips are more-or-less in the shape of a smile.)
Allard practiced this for the entire eight hour train ride from Cleveland to
Boston.

After Allard commended this exercise to me, I practiced it frequently when
away from the clarinet, but I'm not sure it helped me as much as it helped
Joe.
