He was born in Brest-Litovsk on June 13, 1901 and died in Moscow April 24,
1954
Studied with Miaskovsky and graduated from the Moscow conservatoire in 1928
Became professor of orchestration there
Some of his early works were neoclassical, but later he became a nationalist

Works:
Opera "Sot "
Operetta (3) Encounters, The Happy Rooster, The Sunflower
Concerto for Orchestra
Violin Concerto
Many children's songs (for which he was well known)
