English - German
mouthpiece - das Mundstueck
barrel - die Birne, das Faesschen
upper joint - das Oberstück
lower joint - das Unterstück
bell - der Trichter, Schalltrichter
reed - das Blatt, das Blättchen
ligature - die Blattschraube, die Zwinge
string - die Schnur
lay - dieBahn
key - die Klappe
speaker key - die Registerklappe, Duodezimklappe, Ueberblasklappe
gig - Mucke (Mugga) (musikalische Gelegenheitsarbeit) (Did I spell that
right
Ulrich or any other lurking Germans? I've never *seen* it written anywhere -
just heard it a lot.)

The Dutch terms would interest me if any Dutch lurkers care to go for
it.....

OK, David, here we go for it. Where I think it is necessary I have tried to
give an approximation of the pronunciation in English/American.

mouthpiece = mondstuk
barrel = tonnetje
upper joint = bovenstuk
lower joint = onderstuk
bell = beker ("baker")
reed = riet ("reet")
ligature = ligatuur ("Legahtuur" "uu" pronounced like German ue)
ligature = rietbinder ("reetbender")
string = draad ("draht")
lay = baan ("bahn")
key = klep ("klap")
speaker key = octaafklep ("octahphklap")
gig = gigue ("geeg")

Greetings

Rien
