My younger students almost never have a hard time with the low notes, as I
use Galper's Clarinet method which is very, very low note intensive (he
believes that you must have a good foundation in the low notes to achieve a
good tone throughout the Clarinet).
BTW, pretty strange feeling when the Clarinet is turned around, and the
student is only blowing, but not fingering - they can feel the vibrations
of the reed much more clearly on their lip.
