I also turn the mouthpiece around and finger the notes and have the student
blow.
I usually do this for the low notes to prove that their fingers just weren't
covering and for the notes with the register key. First I finger the low note
and add the register key when they least expect it to prove that they don't
need to "over do it" to reach the higher notes.
