I have a recording of the Texas Tech University Wind Ensemble playing this
piece with Bobby Walzel (former clarinet professor there) and who i am
assuming was/is the trumpet professor, from 1995. I've only listened to it
a couple of times, one when i bought it and once while i was reading e-mail
after reading your post.

Perhaps with orchestra instead of band it's more interesting. But to be
honest, i wasn't particularly impressed by the piece. It's definitely not
much of a showpiece.

I just ordered the sheet music for the Gordon Jacob Double Concerto for
Clarinet & Trumpet. I've never heard it, but am intrigued--the principal
trumpet player in my orchestra is an excellent player and a very good
friend; I think we could get it programmed. It will at least be fun to work
up.

Queries:

--does it suck?

--Am I going to be able to play it (or is it a Stanley Drucker/Charlie
Neidich only nightmare)?

--If it's ever been recorded, where can I get one (neither Amazon.com or
CDNow.com lists it)?

--Anyone ever perform it? If so, any tips or warnings?
