Hiya,
I went from the clarinet to the tenor only because they were in the same
key. I tried and bought all the types of saxes and the one I play the most is
my old C-melody. I love the sound and I don't need to transpose C music. It's
the perfect sax for the lazy musician. I suggest that you go to your local
music store and rent an alto for 3 months and see if you like it. And then
make your decision from there. I believe that most beginners start on alto.
