Mark related his unfortunate personal experience:

<<<Have had bottles thrown at me (well, the band, anyway) in C & W bars.
Prefer booing by a long shot :^)>>>

. . . on the other hand, I've played in blues bars where people have tipped
the band, both in cash and a round of drinks. At 2:00 in the morning, a
free beer is the best-tasting kind!

I've yet to see anyone greet a symphony soloist with a ten-dollar bill or a
six-pack.

Humor aside -- there is almost no bad situation that isn't made worse by the
introduction of alcohol. I've got a few violence-at-wedding-reception
nightmare stories, from my days of catering and playing in a gigging/wedding
band. (Not all of my education took place in the classroom!)

A little off topic, perhaps, but I'm sure many of us have horror show gig
stories. Since it's almost Halloween, wouldn't this be an appropriate time
to share them?
