Very interesting article. We heard Pogorelich play Rach 2 at the
Kennedy Center several weeks ago. The Washington Post review (which was
published on a Friday, one day before I saw the concert) described
Pogorelich's novel interpretation - but gave it a positive spin.
Leonard Slatkin (the conductor) prepared the audience for the slow pace
and was careful not to express an opinion about the interpretation.

I disliked the performance - even though Pogorelich had impeccable
technique. The slow pace robbed the music of its excitement and drama.
I did not boo, just sat in my chair while others clapped
enthusiastically (and thought, "Are they crazy?")
