Subj: [kl] New Duet Edition by David Hite (review)
Date: Tue, 26 Oct 1999 12:55:29 -0400

I just received one of the first printings of the Cavallini Three Grand
Artistic Duets for Two Clarinets from David Hite . This new edition
includes numerous expression markings, tempo markings, and the page turns
are in logical places (I also own the DeVille edition which does not). Jean
Hite did the engraving for this edition, and it looks great - nicely
spaced, and very clear printing. These duets are published by Southern
Music , and can be ordered at 800-284-5443, or at
http://www.southernmusic.com As David Hite writes "each duo is aprox 20
minutes in length, and provide the clarinetist extensive opportunities to
exercise imagination and to employ a myriad of subtle rhythmic and tonal
nuances. These are even appropriate for a recital program."
I highly recommend this mainstaple of duo literature. For a number of years
these were thought to have been written by Langenus.
