I know nothing, am just offering, for what it's worth, some
excerpts from a catalog description of the Elite:

...Buffet designers...experimented with everything they could to
make a totally different instrument.

...reduced the weight of the instrument by 18%.

...gives a sweet, blendable sound that is less penetrating. Pads
with metal resonators are used to improve sound projection and
clarity. Metal rings are not used on the Elite. Instead, the
metal is replaced with carbon fiber rings which allow the wood
full resonance and better vibration throughout the instrument.
Stainless steel rods and pivot screws are used to promote better
response and feeling.

...the perfect instrument for chamber and baroque music.

Like I said, for what it's worth; this is how the instrument is
being marketed. This is from the Woodwind and Brasswind catalog,
which, by the way, shows a list price of $5995; their price
$3495.
