Anyone have an old one crack up, absent some really egregious abuse?<<

I have a 6 year old Buffet E-ll. I used it for the everything until I got my
R-13. I used it for 1 year of marching band. And it came out of that fine. I
kept fine care of it, and always kept it clean and in controlled
temperatures. Even a year after it going through marching band, it still
looked to be ok, except for a few scratces here and there. Then just last
week, I looked into the barrel and found a crack right down the side of the
bore. Which, I think, also caused the ring of the barrel to fall off
somehow--because they seemed to happen within the same week. I'm still
debating whether or not to fix the crack, because I rarely even use the horn
anymore. Anyways, I thought for sure it wouldn't ever crack, because it
never had before after 6 years. At least my R-13 is still crack free.
