I remember that when my parents bought my R-13 new in 1963, it came with a
cardboard measuring tool (a rectangle of thin cardboard) that you were to
insert into the bottom of your mouthpiece to make sure it had the correct
length chamber for correct tuning. I suspect that your different
mouthpieces have slightly different lengths on the inside. I think it is
the part that goes from the bottom of the mouthpiece to where it begins its
bend to the tip (on the inside).
