Hi Karl,

Could you direct me to the source of the information about that "trick" to
read
later edition Finale files with earlier editions of the program.

Several months ago I did a binary printout of a Finale 3.7 and a Finale 97
file,
found the labels which identified the version number, changed it to the
3.0 label and tried reading the file with 3.0. The program actually read
the files
but produced a lot of garbage as well. I never returned to the project,
but I'd
be most interested in finding out more about it. Particularly considering
that
I have MIDISCAN and would find the MND to Finale approach MOST useful.
But I want the files on my page to be readable by the greatest number of
people,
hence my need still to write them in earlier versions of Finale.

Thanks,

Oliver
