As I remember, my metal clarinet was a Conn Pan American. I wish I still had
it; I'm curious what it would play like. But here's a modern story. In the
San Diego Museum of Art there is a large work made from (I'm remembering this
from about 15 years ago) about 100 metal clarinets stuck in concrete. When I
walked around a corner and saw it, I nearly died, it was so hilarious to me.
Maybe it wasn't meant to be funny. I haven't seen it there for some years; I
believe I was told once it was off exhibit in the basement.
